It's National Take a Hike Day

IT'S NATIONAL TAKE A HIKE DAY!
Celebrate Gratitude from Top to Bottom
10:00 AM
Higgins Mountain Preserve, Georgetown

Bring a snack and enjoy a 1-mile morning gratitude hike with Rabbi Vinikoor and Student-rabbi Rachel Putterman to the top of Higgins Mountain in Georgetown. Higgins Mountain, with an elevation of 259 feet above sea level, is the highest point on Georgetown Island. The preserve offers views from the summit east and south to Monhegan Island, Seguin Island and the Gulf of Maine.

General trail level of difficulty is moderate and appropriate for children and families. People with mobility concerns or not as steady on their feet, however, may have difficulty navigating the steeper parts of the trail, especially if the ground is wet and/or snowy.

Although there is no hunting on Sundays, please still wear blaze orange if you have it. Layers are encouraged (dress like an onion!) and sturdy footwear with good grip. With rain or snow earlier in the week, the trails could be slick. The trail beds are a mix of exposed rock or leaf covered ground.

RSVP with the number of adults and children in your party, so we know to expect you and may stay in touch with event updates.
